Designopolis is now open from 10am – 10pm 7 days a week



Designopolis in association with Lavish held their annual Designopolis Easter Festival on Friday, April 27th, at the sunny, outdoor mall. Designopolis was transformed into a children’s wonderland, complete with its very own, spectacular, one-of-a-kind parade which included a marching band, stilt-walkers, plus characters such as Dora the Explorer. A variety of children’s activities were spread out across the mall’s 1 kilometer length, ranging from Adrenalin Aqua Fighting, Adrenalin Paintball Shooting Range, arts & crafts with Indimaj, Real Madrid football, a race track, and more. Various food and beverage stands were also available, providing everything from snacks, to delicious meals and desserts. For the grown-ups visiting that day, lots of fun shopping was available at Designopolis stores, which had some great offers and discounts, in addition to enjoying the spring weather and unwinding with friends and family. Main sponsors of the Easter Festival were Emaar with their North Coast resort, Marassi, in addition to Ezz Elarab Automotive Group who were also sponsors bringing along the Volvo S60, S80, and XC60 for test drives, plus the new Citroen C4, C5, C4 Picasso, and their DS line, with the DS3 and DS4. For the artisans at the festival, Egyptian artist Hanan Ghanem held an exhibition titled “Colorful Passion”, at the open gallery space (formerly known as Articulate Baboon), with her bright, vivid pieces. Finally, a big thank you goes out to the DLight Photography team and media editors, who were at the festival all day ensuring they captured all the special moments with their unique approach to photography. With the endless children’s activities, shopping, and some of the best F&B outlets in the country, the Designopolis 2012 Easter Festival was a fun day for the whole family.


Designopolis in collaboration with Lavish held their annual Christmas Festival at the spacious, sunny, outdoor mall on Friday, December 9th. The special event was attended by over 15,000 guests and included Santa, Christmas carols, shows, plus various exhibitors, F&Bs, and children’s play areas. Main sponsors of the event were Mobinil and BMW, alongside co-sponsors Alex Bank, Indimaj, and Crystal Asfour, who created a very special Christmas tree made of crystals, currently on display for the coming period at Designopolis. Also on display beside The Terrace at Designopolis is a tree creation by Architect Dalia Sadany her company Dezines for Architecture, Interior and Landscape design. The never-seen-before decorative tree, displays Egypt in all its diversities, and incorporates a variety of meticulously, hand-made ornaments that reflect all aspects of Egypt in its vivid traditions and cultures. Highlights of the special celebration included the Priere Vivant choir, conducted by Rafik Atallah, the amazing jazz band who sang everyone’s favorite Christmas songs, plus the unbelievable talents of the silk acrobat show and fire show. The Tache Art gallery at Designopolis also held a special book launch and exhibition entitled SIWA Legends & Lifestyles in the Egyptian Sahara, by author Rawah Alfalah Badrawi, and photography by Omar Hikal and Khaled Shokry. The festival continued into the evening as families enjoyed spending the day together, friends shopped from the various exhibitors, and children played and enjoyed the fun. Designopolis plans on holding this Christmas Festival yearly, along with its other famous bazaars including their Easter Bazaar in spring and the Halloween Festival in October.


Designopolis in collaboration with Lavish held Cairo’s biggest Halloween Festival at the spacious mall on Friday, October 28th. With spooky Halloween decorations all around, Designopolis was transformed into another world filled with exhibitors, a variety of F&Bs, children’s play areas and activity centers, live performances, music, shows, and much more! Sponsored by Mobinil and co-sponsored by Coca-Cola and Opel, the special day was highlighted by a Halloween parade, percussion show, fire show, glow-in-the-dark robot show, and all the amazing costumes worn by the children.  Adults also got in on the fun by test driving some brand new Harley Davidson motorcycles. The special celebration continued into the evening as families enjoyed spending the day together, friends shopped from the various exhibitors, and children played, all accompanied by tasty F&Bs, great music, and some amazing shows.


On Monday July 11th Designopolis hosted the launch Italian motorbike brand, Piaggio, famous for their Vespa line, at BoConcept. On display and ready for purchase were the Piaggio Mp3 LT 2011 models, and Vespas. The Mp3 LT 2011 is the first "over 125" scooter that you can ride with a normal driver's license in Europe. Despite its small size it has an engine capacity to go from 250 to 300, making it the smallest of the LT family with more torque at low speeds and access to toll motorways and ring roads. Their Vespa 2011 Models include the Vespa Lxv 125, Vespa GTS 125 ie, Vespa GTS super 250 ie, and Vespa GTS 125. A variety of colors were available including white, midnight blue, portofino green, black, and maroon brown, with plenty more to choose from on All Piaggio and Vespa models available worldwide can now be ordered in Egypt upon request. Taking place every Monday and Wednesday of July, Kids’ Workshop is holding a summer program at Designopolis based on the concept of edutainment and learning through play. The program is created to develop gross and fine motor skills, social skills, while strengthening children’s self-confidence and self esteem for children aged 3-12. Activities include arts & crafts in which children make colorful butterflies, crowns, collages and potato stamp paintings, in addition to storytelling and drama. After completing their collages children are asked to present their work in front of the other children, indirectly introducing them to the basic skills of presentation such as being confident, articulating, and making eye contact. For the younger ages in the session, they get to enjoy storytelling and later dress up as different characters from the story while acting out a scene.


On Tuesday June 21st, Designopolis and Tache Art hosted artists Elhamy Naguib, Catalina Constain and Eduardo Ortiz, who gave a free workshop for children, teaching them how to make toys, puppets and figures using a variety of materials including recycled ones, paper mache, wire and wood. It was a wonderful opportunity for children to learn this new skill while having fun, and being creative. At the end of the day they all got to proudly go home with their handmade creations. Designopolis held its first BIG SUMMER SALE on Friday May 20th and Saturday May 21st from 3-11pm along the entire stretch of the mall. Over 80 different stores participated in this enormous sale allowing visitors to see the various stores that are now open at Designopolis while giving them this amazing opportunity to purchase thousands of discounted products.

The Terrace also served its delicious food for visitors who wished to eat lunch or dinner, while Tempo restaurant provided an outdoor dining area only for those 2 days. Playgrounds and play areas were packed with little ones as the grown-ups browsed and shopped.


The mall was as cheerful as ever, covered in a rainbow of decorations, at the first Easter Bazaar held on Saturday April 16th, by Designopolis & SODIC. Friends and family relaxed to the sultry tunes of the Jazz Quartet and the funky, Latin beats of Cocoon, while enjoying plenty of shopping, and delicious food, and children of all ages had a blast as they hunted for eggs, played tennis, and participated in a variety of fun activities with Alex Toys, Hewaya, Diwan’s arts and crafts and finally, Blooms. Three exclusive Easter installations were also created especially for Designopolis by designers Hager Fawzy, Amira Selim and photographer Monir El-Shazly. The joyful day at Designopolis was the perfect setting to kick-off the spring season!


On Saturday April 2nd, 2011, Designopolis together with SODIC held Souk El Horreya, a charity event with various NGO exhibitors, blood drives, Good Will booths to donate old clothes, in addition to a variety of children’s play areas and food and beverage stands. The event was a big success as guests were happy to find plenty of local causes to help, all in one spot, while enjoying the day out with family and friends. The highlight of the day began when some of Egypt’s most talented bands, singers and musicians began performing live. The performances began with Stable Antar Choral, a group of children from impoverished areas around Egypt, followed by Stable Antar and then Uss w Laz2, whose members come from all over Egypt, including Aswan. Next up on the stage were the entrancing City Band, followed by the talented Mariam & Abou and Egypt’s very own rap star, Hossam El Hosseiny. The crowd sang along to Cairokee when they hit the stage next with their huge hit “Sout El Horreya” with guest singer Hany Adel from Wust El Balad, and the day ended with the rest of Wust El Balad joining their lead singer, playing their funky hits with the backdrop of the sun setting.


Tache Art gallery at Designopolis opened with a bang on January 22nd, 2011. With an exclusive opening exhibition by Egyptian contemporary artist Huda Lutfi, the gallery and event was a place to see and be seen. Owned by longtime art collectors Taya Elzayadi and Cherine Badrawi, Tache Art will continue to host a variety of exhibitions throughout the year allowing the artist in all of us to admire or purchase some very special art pieces for their home.



Designopolis held its very first Christmas Bazaar on December 17th, 2010, complete with Santa and his carriage, Christmas songs sung exclusively by the Riff Band, and a variety of fun activities for children of all ages. The bazaar was a huge success and was attended by over 10,000 guests, continuing until late in the day as they mingled and shopped, while celebrating the holiday season.



Designopolis is stretched over an area of 850 meters directly on the Cairo – Alex desert road. Going to Alexandria, the mall is located on the left side of the road; 6 kms after the toll station.


Designopolis West has been officially registered with the US Green Building Council and is now pre-certified to get Egypt’s first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), a sign of excellence in environmentally responsible design, construction and operation.
